During the International Year of Chemistry (IYC2011) we reflected on the reality that we live in a global society. Highly technical, scientific jobs are no longer confined within a few distinct world regions, and chemical jobs are becoming more interdisciplinary. And, more than ever, the challenges we face as chemists affect the entire world. Excitingly, excellence in chemical training is achievable in multiple global locations. Both traditional and non-traditional chemical careers often require international communication and collaboration. In order to be competitive and successful in today’s workplace, young chemists must be open to these cultural exchanges.
The YCC is eager to help facilitate cultural exchanges and provide access to resources for students and young professionals who are interested in chemistry as an international discipline.
